Name? Janelle,
aka FoxXy Pick a favorite piece you submitted for this and tell what was running through your mind as your wrote it. My favorite? Well one basic theme that runs through all of my writing is the idea of change. So it goes without saying that The Change is one piece I particularly enjoyed writing. When i wrote that, i thought of all the people, myself included, that see a friend start life off being optimistic knowing where they want to go then somehow along the way before they make it there they change--for the worse. And the sad part is they know theyve changed but they dont care. It's about nice people, innocent people--people you love changing into people who are hard, harsh, unloving--people who you soon cant bear to look at. Favorite Writer? I absolutely love Dorothy Parker's writing. She's sarcastic, witty, and insightful...She writes to the universal woman--weaving stories about things every female can relate to. If you could say one thing to said writer what would it be? Teach me to write with such abstraction and yet manage to be so precise. Favorite Book? The Dorothy Parker Portable collection. Funniest moment in a story? Hmmm...that would have to be from Dorothy Parker's short story, A telephone call, the story is about a woman talking to herself while she's waiting for her male friend to call. All the while she's waiting she's making excuses for why he hasn't called yet. The whole piece is funny because i've caught myself doing the same exact thing sometimes, and i know so have other girls. If you could kill any character in a book, who would it be? If you could kill any character in a book, who would it be? Hmmm that's a hard one.... I think i would kill the grandmother in VC Andrews' book Flowers in the Attic. And the witch in Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz,... although she dies anyway in the end i would kill her earlier..except then there wouldn't be much of a story huh? oh well then i guess she can live till shes supposed to die. And that clown in Stephen King's novel "IT,"... clowns just really piss me off. In fact can we just kill all the clowns? Oh oh and wait add that guy that killed the baby in Steinbeck's The Pearl. Sorry got a little carried away over there...<laugh> Most important line you ever read in a book? The most important line ive ever read in a book was in The Bible...Matthew chapter 7 verse 12--where it says do unto others as you would have them do unto you. What book has had the most profound impact on your character? Well it would have to be the Bible, which contains my most important line. Whenever im about to do something i always think of the other person and how they would feel before i do it. you avoid a lot of problems, and hurt feelings this way. I know sometimes it makes me a sucker but i really think of how my actions might affect someone else before i act. And in general The Bible actually has a lot of good advice for people to follow to help them get the most out of their lives and live life to the fullest. (I know i know that sounds so corny, but give me a break ok?? This is a deep question!) What turned you into what you are today? A couple of years ago I became really sick, I missed about half of the school year, and was way behind on everything when i finally was able to come back. But during that time i learned a lot about myself and other people, and who I could depend on and who I couldnt. I learned to appreciate the things that I had never even thought of before. And it was during these times that I focused on my writing to bring me out of the depressing moods I would get into. When I came back to school I worked my ass off to catch up to where I had been before, and i succeeded-- even going farther than i had hoped. The last few years of high school I worked a lot on the literary magazines and newspaper contributing my works, and helping with the whole publication process while working privately on my other stuff. Writing is a great way to express yourself and just let all your negative energy out. Its a purge of your feelings and its a great help. Submitted Pieces: Does it Make a Difference?
