Are you content with just being mediocre?
do you want to grow up to be a bored, suburbanite,
living in the traditionally happy dream world?
you live in a small house, white picket fence,
a happy little dog, 2.5 kids,
you live 2 blocks away from your parents
you're a housewife, you've joined the PTA, and you bake cookies...from scratch
your children go to the same school you did, and the teachers remember you
you sit home cook, clean, constantly it seems
you look in the mirror and see lines that you never thought you'd see
in your closet lies a box with all your scraps--
letters, notes, stories, things you started as a young aspiring child,
which you left to….marry your high school love, who you grew up with
never did make it to college
too much to do once little jimmy was born
oh sad suburban nightmare
what happened to what you wanted?
your goals to be a top-level woman executive, corporate highbrow
someone looked up to
feared but respected
weekend business trips
writing books in your spare time
summer Carribean vacations
winter skiing
wearing tailored suits, carrying a leather briefcase
dreams…dreams…dreams of a financial success by a mediocre tired haggard
housewife.
