These are nothing more than supplements written by staff members of SDM in whole, part, or individually. They all fit in well with what
it's all about here. Just feel free to read them but remember the copyright belongs to the
respective author(s). No need in us getting ripped off. |
Editor's note: Since Pete does all the lead-ins for the rest of the website (he does
run it), he asked somebody to do a lead-in for his article. Since I was online, I got
lucky? I haven't read it, because he's going through his disgruntled phase, and it's fun
to piss him off by not doing exactly what he wants. This article is about some guestbook
thing that's been eating at him ever since he first surfed the Internet. I know because he
told me. Aside from that, I don't know anything about this. But since, he runs the site,
he can do whatever he wants. What a joke.
don't sign the guestbook
by pete (dwain)
This little ditty is something I've wanted to write for awhile, because every time I
decide to look at someone's guestbook, there is some comment that goes somethng like this:
"Come and sign my guestbook." That's the main reason I don't sign guestbooks. I
do occassonally, but there has to be some real substance or a good time derived from
visiting that site. To me, I always thought a guestbook was set up for the purposes of
letting the "webmaster" or maybe even the world that you checked out the site,
and then give a plug for your site. Nothing wrong with that. Instead, it seems that there
are people polluting those guestbook comment areas with the most wittiest of comments.
"Please sign my guestbook." "Don't forget to sign my
guestbook." "Come on over and make sure you sign my guestbook." I
thought that sites went up for people to learn at least a little bit about the person(s)
behind the site. You can't learn anything by signing a guestbook or having someone sign a
guestbook. I don't see how that can help anybody. Not me. Not you. Not anybody.
This rant was brought on by the possibility of people desecrating the guestbook for SDM with nothing but "Come sign MY guestbook." The
whole purpose of SDM, in my opinion, is to give the world
something that has substance. Nothing vain. Nothing pointless. Nothing meaningless. Sure,
we don't make sense some of the time, but I don't want it to be as shallow as some high
school girl's yearbook. If that was the case, then we might as well start posting a gossip
board as well as a clothing advice section. That would ROCK man! The hell it would. |
