touch me, i'm dick

Welcome to the movie review world, SDM style.  It goes like this, WE DON'T WATCH THE MOVIES.  Instead, we take a gander at the previews, consider the hype, put it through the grinder and give you our take on the situation.  It's a simple process really, but we're the ones doing it.

City Of Angels

City of Angels. A remake of a Wim Wenders movie. Not all that old and it was, in all sincerity, cool as hell. Wings of Desire was the original. A sequel was made (Faraway, So Close!) and that was good as well. Philosophy and the importance of being human. It makes everything so worthwhile. Peter Falk and Lou Reed even show up. As far as I'm concerned, they get four thumbs a piece. BTW, the movies are german predominantly b&w. Proof that amerikans do suck.

On to 1998 and what do we have? Nicholas Cage (Lemmie from ConAir) and Meg Ryan (Lemmie from Courage Under Fire). All color (so it seems) and a badass soundtrack. I don't know the specifics of what was changed, but if there's only color, this it's just a piece of shit. One thumb for copying somebody cool and being crazy enough to make Dennis Franz an angel (only in amerika). One finger for fucking it up like an amerikan idiot.
